BritLevel Gypsum Levelling Compounds extended information
Coverage: 5kg/m2 at approximately 3mm bed depth.
Brit LevelGypsum Levelling Compounds is a gypsum based levelling compound for application to dry anhydrite floors before the laying of floor tiles, vinyl tiles* and other soft floor finishes*. Must be applied on a floor with a functioning DPM. For internal use only, where the temperature must be kept above 10°C during the installation and curing process. Do not use in areas subject to permanent water immersion. BRITLEVEL GYPSUM can be pump applied to large areas. Bed thicknesses of 2mm-20mm can be achieved. Conforms to BSEN13813:2002 CA-C25-F7-B2.0
All surfaces to be levelled must be free from loose matter, clean, dry and all surface containments must be removed as they will affect adhesion to the floor. BRITLEVEL GYPSUM is suitable for both matted and piped underfloor heating. If the matted type is to be used then the heating element should be embedded in a layer of product before any further work is carried out. Underfloor heating must be switched off during the installation and remain off for 48 hours. It can be then turned on gradually over a period of a further 48 hours after the levelling of the floor is complete. *Soft floor finishes should not be applied until the level has had, depending on site conditions, 24 hours to cure. The moisture content for the flooring to be used must be taken into consideration. Ensure any trowel marks are removed from the BRITLEVEL GYPSUM before laying soft floor coverings.
Preparation
All surfaces must be free from loose matter, dry, clean from any dust or grease, and be dimensionally stable with no excessive movement. The dry anhydrite surface must be primed with a neat coat of BRITPRIMER SBR to remove any suction from the floor after scarification to stop the rapid drying of the level. It is imperative that BRITLEVEL GYPSUM must be used above 10°C, and that this temperature is maintained throughout the installation.
Application
Anhydrite: Ensure surface is dry with less than 0.5% moisture. Surface laitance should be removed by scarification with a carbide disc. The surface should then be hoovered to ensure no debris is left on the floor. Prime the Anhydrite screed with a neat coat of BRITPRIMER SBR and allow to dry before application of level.
Mixing Ratio
Add 20kg of BRITLEVEL GYPSUM into a mixing vessel containing 5lt of clean cold water. BRITLEVEL GYPSUM should be mixed either by hand or with a mechanical mixer with water to form a smooth pourable liquid. Pour the BRITLEVEL GYPSUM onto the floor and assist flow using a trowel to achieve the required depth.
Tiling
Must not be carried out until the BRITLEVEL GYPSUM has fully cured after 48 hours, depending on site conditions and depth of application. However, the moisture content of the floor can be measured after 24 hours and providing it is less than 0.5% tiling can proceed at this point. We would then recommend that tiling be carried out with BRITGYP adhesive.
