Everbuild Febflor 708 Universal Self Levelling Floor Compound extended information
EVERBUILD® 708 Self Level Floor Compound is a cement-based product used to level out uneven floors and screeds prior to laying ceramic tiles, thermoplastic tiles, lino, wood block flooring or carpet. Mix with either water or EVERBUILD® 709 FEBFLOR LATEX PLUS to give a free-flowing, self-levelling topping.
When mixed as directed, the compound provides a free-flowing mix that sets in 2 to 4 hours and can be overlaid after only 8 hours at normal temperatures. NOTE: This product is not suitable for use as a final wearing surface.
Uses
- For levelling uneven subfloors prior to laying ceramic tiles, thermoplastic tiles, lino, wood block flooring or carpet.
- Internal use
CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES

Everbuild Febflor 70 Self Levelling Compound APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT
SAND/CEMENT SCREED
Allow at least four weeks drying before application. Dampen floors and prime with EVERBUILD® 501 PVA BOND diluted 1:3 with water. Mix with water as detailed below. For surfaces to be subjected to heavy foot traffic, use EVERBUILD® 709 FEBFLOR LATEX PLUS rather than water when mixing the powder.
TIMBER FLOORS/EXISTING TILING/ASPHALT
Degrease and roughen up any glaze on existing tiling or asphalt prior to laying this product. Suitable for small areas (1 m2 max) over interior timber floors only. Timber floors must be securely screwed down at 300 mm centres. In all cases, apply EVERBUILD® 503 SBR BOND to the floor at a 1:1 dilution with water. Mix EVERBUILD® 708 Self Level Floor Compound with neat 709 FEBFLOR LATEX PLUS (20 kg of powder to 5 L of liquid) and apply to sub floor whilst the bonding coat is still tacky.
EXISTING VINYL TILES
Ensure tiles are clean and sound. Prime with EVER- BUILD® 503 SBR BOND diluted 1:1 with water, and apply floor level compound mixed with 709 FEBFLOR LATEX PLUS over tiles whilst primer coat is still tacky. Allow 24 hours before applying final covering.
FEBFLOR 708 UNIVERSAL – APPLICATION
Floors to be treated must be free from grease, dust and loose particles. Always prepare floors by dampen- ing with water then priming with Everbuild® 501 PVA Bond diluted 1 part PVA to 3 parts water to give a sound, slightly damp surface.
20 kg of self-levelling powder will require 4 L of water. Always add the powder to water. This should be carried out by stepwise addition whilst stirring until a free flowing creamy compound is produced. Pour the mixture out into the prepared floor and allow it to find its own level. Trowel down lightly to achieve an overall thickness not exceeding 6 mm. Where further finishing is required, allow the surface to stiffen, usually 3⁄4 to one hour after application, and lightly sprinkle with water and carefully trowel to produce a smooth appearance. Do not sprinkle excessive water or over-trowel at this stage.
Additional layers, each not exceeding 6 mm, may be applied to achieve the required depth. Prime with Everbuild® 501 PVA Bond diluted 1:3 with water between layers.
For areas where deep depressions occur, (greater than 6 mm in depth up to 15 mm), add 1 part of clean, dry sharp sand to 1 part EVERBUILD® Febflor 708 Self Levelling Floor Compound. The sand should be added after mixing powder with water. It is advisable to reduce the amount of mixing water before adding sand, and then top up with water to achieve the correct consistency. Note: the flow characteristics will be affected by addition of the sand. If the product starts to stiffen or set, DO NOT try to remix or add extra water.
For areas where heavy loading and/or trafficking are anticipated on the final surface, mix EVERBUILD® 708 Self Level Floor Compound with neat Everbuild® 709 FEBFLOR LATEX PLUS rather than water. This will improve flexibility, adhesion and durability of the screed. The mixing ratio is again 20 kg of powder to 5 L of 709 FEBFLOR LATEX PLUS. Again, prime the floor with Everbuild® 501 PVA diluted 1:3 with water.
LIMITATIONS
- Always mix with clean fresh water and always prime floors as directed.
- Always apply this product whilst primer coat is still damp.
- The product will not resist rising damp. In these con- ditions, use in conjunction with Blackjack 908 D.P.M liquid dampproof membrane as directed.
- Never exceed the quantity of water stated. This will dramatically reduce strength and cause cracking.
- Do not mix more compound than can be laid in 20 minutes and never try to reconstitute once the product has set.
- Do not use for embedding underfloor heating systems.
- If several coats of EVERBUILD® 708 Febflor Self Levelling Floor Compound are required to achieve desired depth, always allow each coat to dry for a minimum of 8 hours at 20 °C before overcoating with fresh floor leveller, and prime between coats.
- To avoid cracking / crazing, existing concrete screeds / asphalt must be a minimum of 4 weeks old before overlaying with this product.
- On substrates where underfloor heating is in place, switch off the heating for 24 hours before, and until 24 hours after, application.
- Do not use this product below 4°C.
- In areas where movement is anticipated, always use 709 FEBFLOR LATEX PLUS rather than water. NO OTHER MANUFACTURER’S PRODUCT MAY BE USED.
- As the manufacturer cannot know all the uses their products may be put to, it is the user’s responsibility to determine suitability for use. If in doubt, contact Technical Services Department.
- Note that setting time will be greatly increased when overlaying impervious surfaces and in cold weather.
