Everbuild 711 Rapid Set FlexiPlus S1 Tile Adhesive extended information
Coverage: Up to 5 m2 per 20 kg bag.
EVERBUILD 711 TileSet Flexiplus S1 is a rapid setting ceramic tile adhesive with added latex powder for improved flexibility. EVERBUILD 711 TileSet Flexiplus S1 is used for fixing all types of ceramic and porcelain tiles, including natural stone, mosaics, vitrified and large format tiles to prepared floors and walls without the need for a separate flexible additive. Can be used internally and externally and bonds to most building substrates such as concrete, cement screeds and render, timber, existing ceramic tiles, dense block work and unskimmed plasterboard. The adhesive is water-resistant, with the white colour particularly recommended when fixing light coloured natural stone such as Marble and Travertine.
USES
- Suitable for porcelain and large format tiles on walls.
- For securing floor and wall tiles to most surfaces.
- For heavy duty areas such as heavily walked floors.
- Recommended for tiling domestic, communal and power showers.
- Suitable for constant immersion e.g. swimming pools.
- Grey colour may also be used for patching small. areas in concrete/stone etc.

LIMITATIONS
- Always mix with clean fresh water and always prime/bond surfaces as directed.
- Never exceed the quantity of water stated. This will dramatically reduce strength and cause failure.
- Do not mix more EVERBUILD 711 TileSet Flexiplus S1 than can be laid in 30 minutes and never try to reconstitute once the product has set.
- Floors must be prepared as directed and free from all obvious movement before tiling.
- Existing concrete sub floors must be a minimum of 4 weeks old before overlaying with this product.
- Grey powder is NOT SUITABLE for wall tiling onto gypsum based plaster.
- White powder cannot be used directly on to un- sealed gypsum plaster, see priming instructions. Alternatively use EVERBUILD® 701, 702 or 703 ready mixed tile adhesives.
- Do not use on painted surfaces. Remove paint first.
- Do not use over metal.
- Do not walk on floors until adhesive has fully set (approximately 3 hours normally).
- On substrates where underfloor heating is in place, switch off the heating for 24 hours before, and until 24 hours after, application.
- Do not mix this tile adhesive when air or ground temperatures are forecast to be below +5 ̊C or above+35 ̊C during the first 24 hours after application.
- When used externally, do not apply when rain is imminent and protect from rain for at least 24 hours.
- Do not apply to damp surfaces or when ambient. temperature is persistently below +15 ̊C as this will increase drying process by several days. As the manufacturer cannot know all the uses their products may be put to, it is the user’s responsibility to determine suitability for use.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT
All surfaces must be clean, firm and free of dust, dirt, oil and loose flaking coatings. Substrates must also be structurally sound and able to withstand the expected traffic loading. Worn or porous substrates should be primed with Everbuild® 503 SBR Bond or Everbuild® 501 PVA Bond where applicable.
Concrete/Screeds/Renders/unskimmed plasterboard/block work
Surfaces such as tamp-rutted concrete and masonry blockwork, that are rough or uneven, should be prepared with a suitable Everbuild Febflor Self Levelling compound and allowed to fully cure for at least 24 – 48hrs before application. Allow fresh concrete etc to dry for at least 4 weeks before tiling. Ensure floors are free from rising damp.
Grey: Prime surfaces with EVERBUILD 501 PVA BOND diluted 4 parts water to 1 part PVA Bond and allow to dry (EVERBUILD® SBR Bond must be used in external applications).
White: Prime surfaces with Everbuild® 503 SBR Bond diluted 3 parts water to 1 part SBR Bond and allow to dry.
Timber Floors
Suitable for interior timber floors only. Ensure adequate ventilation beneath floors. Cover wooden floors with moisture resistant exterior grade (marine) plywood, which must be at least 12 mm thick. Secure with screws, not nails, at 300 mm centres, All boards must be level, showing no edge protrusions and be fixed in place with a 0.5 – 1 mm gap to avoid expansion stresses between boards and around parameters. Floors must be structurally sound and braced securely to support expected traffic loading.
We recommend all wood-based surfaces be dry and primed with a diluted mix of 1 part Everbuild® 503 SBR Bond and 3 parts clean water and allowed to dry. Alternatively use cement backer-board to cover wooden floors following manufacturers guidance then treat as concrete.
Existing tiling
Ensure tiles are securely bonded to wall or floor. Roughen surface of glazed tiles with sander.
Grey: Apply a bonding coat of neat EVERBUILD® 501 PVA BOND. ( EVERBUILD® 503 SBR Bond diluted 1:1 with water must be used in external applications).
White: Apply a bonding coat of neat Everbuild® 503 SBR Bond.
Apply mixed adhesive whilst bonding coat is still tacky.
Gypsum plaster or Anhydrite
White powder only: Prime with two coats of Everbuild ® 503 SBR Bond before use on bare unsealed gypsum or anhydrite floor. The first coat with a 1:1 dilution, and the second coat neat.
Everbuild 711 Rapid Set FlexiPlus S1 APPLICATION
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free of dust and loose material before commencing. Refer to above for specific surface preparation. Always add powder to water.
Grey: Add approximately three and a half parts by volume powder to 1 part by volume water (approx. 5 parts powder to 1 part water by weight)
Spread adhesive to a depth of 6mm and comb to 3 mm to leave a solid bed with 3mm ribs. Secure tiles with a slight twist action to ensure no voids remain. Tiles should be fixed within 20 min of spreading depending on absorbency of substrate and temperature.
White: Add approximately 3 parts powder to 1 part water (Approximately 5 L water per 20 kg sack of powder) Mix to a slump free mortar. Use a notched trowel to give a ribbed mortar bed on the substrate, into which the tiles should be firmly bedded with a twist and slide action to ensure full contact. Use a 3 mm x 3 mm notch at 6 mm centres for mosaics and thin flat-backed wall tiling. Use a 5 mm x 5 mm notch at 10 mm centres for general wall tiling. Use 10 mm x 10 mm notch at 16 mm centres for general floor tiling. Tiles should be fixed within 40 – 60 min of spreading depending on absorbency of substrate and temperature.
Lightly touch the adhesive periodically and, if a skin has formed, remove the adhesive and apply a new layer. It is good practice to periodically remove a tile and check that the adhesive covers a minimum of 75 % of the tile. Never add further water once the adhesive has started to go off. This will destroy the bond strength.
All surplus adhesive must be removed whilst the adhesive is still wet using a dampened cloth or sponge, particularly along the grout lines.
Grouting may proceed as soon as the tile bed is sufficiently firm, which will be at least 2 – 3 hours at room temperature. This period however will be extended in cold conditions.
When the adhesive is fully set, wall and floor joints can be grouted using Everbuild® Universal Flexible Wall & Floor Tile Grout.
Subfloor Heating
Fixing over a heated sub-floor requires adhesive to cure for at least 2 to 3 weeks before switching on the heating and gradually raising the set temperature by 2 °C per day until the floor is at its required operating temperature.
