Brit Prim Grip extended information
Consumption: On smooth, non-absorbent substrates, such as steel/glass fibre-reinforced concrete, and tiles, 50g/m? is required. Depending on the absorbency and nature of the substrate, however, as much as 250g/m2 may be required.
Brit-Prim Grip is a multi-purpose, ready-to-use primer that can be used on both absorbent and non-absorbent substrates. Brit-Prim Grip guarantees a rough keying surface which greatly improves the bond strength between the substrate and the tile adhesive / levelling compound due to its excellent bond enhancing properties. Brit-Prim Grip is suitable for internal and external use.
Preparation
The substrate must be dry, level and stable and free of oil, grease, soiling and other substances which would impair adhesion. Residual moisture content may not exceed the following values:
- Cement flooring: 2%
- Calcium sulphate flooring: 0.5%
- Heated calcium sulphate flooring: 0.3%
- Gypsum-based plaster: 1.0%
(measured with CM instrument)
Application of Brit Prim Grip
As bonding agent and primer for use on non-absorbent and absorbent internal and external wall and floor surfaces prior to the application of ceramic tiling systems. Suitable substrates are: hydraulically bonding cements, lime cast and gypsum plasters, plaster board, gypsum fibreboard, brickwork, aerated concrete, limestone, cement, anhydrite, magnesia and poured asphalt flooring, wooden floorboards, self-distributing levelling compounds, natural stone, vitrified tiles, steel and glass.
Not suitable for use with solvent-based adhesives.
Usage
Stir well prior to use and apply with a wool flock roller (in undiluted form on non-absorbent substrates, diluted 1:1 to 1:4 with water on absorbent substrates). If used in external areas, the primer should be protected by using a flexible sealant compound.
Drying Time
This is determined by temperature and humidity. At +15°C and a relative humidity of 50%, drying time is 1 hour. By this time, the primer has hardened to such an extent that it can no longer be made soft by exposure to water.
Subsequent Layers
Subsequent layers can be put on while the primer is still fresh on absorbent substrates. On non-absorbent substrates, such as vitreous tiles, steel, glass and glass fibre-reinforced concrete, allow the full drying time before putting on subsequent layers.
