DIRECTIONS FOR USE
PREPARATION
Substrate should be structurally sound & stable. It should be suitably cured, dry, free from dust and all contamination that may affect bond. It should be suitable for the application and sufficiently rigid for the ultimate traffic and loading.
Gypsum Based Screeds: Gypsum based screeds require mechanical preparation by buffing, vacuuming etc. The screed must be tested to ensure it is dry (less than 0.5% moisture content measured by CM or less than 75% RH). Particularly absorbent screed should first be primed with 1 coat of Larsen Acrylic primer diluted 1:1 with clean water.
Gypsum Plaster Gypsum: plaster on walls is suitable for a weight of tiles and adhesive of up to 20kg/m2. Ensure surface is free from dust.
Plasterboards (incl. moisture resistant): On walls are suitable for a weight of tiles and adhesive of up to 32kg/m2. Ensure surface is free from dust and boards are securely fixed.
Timber Substrates Timber substrates must be sufficiently rigid and supported to be free from excessive deflection under expected loads, otherwise, they should be overboarded. Ensure adequate ventilation exists beneath the floor. Ensure all new wood (including joists) is ‘dry’ and conditioned. Floors should be designed to accommodate both seasonal changes in moisture and the changes caused by step changes in heating. Extra joists/noggins should be added to strengthen the floor as required.
Tile Backer Board: Ensure the surface is dry and free of any contaminants, loose dust or dirt.
Flooring Grade Asphalt: Ensure that the flooring grade asphalt is in good condition and suitable for covering. Clean the surface with a suitable degreaser, rinse and allow to dry before applying primer.
Existing Tiles: Ensure tiles are well bonded. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free of any contamination including sealers. In kitchens, food preparation areas etc, surface should be cleaned with a suitable degreaser, rinsed and allow to dry. Ensure primary wall substrate is sufficiently strong to receive the extra weight of additional tiles.
Existing Vinyl: Ensure vinyl is well bonded. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free of any contamination including sealers. In kitchens, food preparation areas etc, surface should be cleaned with a suitable degreaser, rinsed and allow to dry.
Power Floated Concrete: Ensure the surface has been allowed minimum 28 days to cure. For small areas, the power-floated concrete may be primed directly with Larsen Primer Grip360. For large areas it is recommended to first mechanically prepare the surface by shot blasting, vacuuming etc.
Epoxy Damp Proof Membrane: Ensure the surface is suitably cured and free of any contamination that may affect bond.
Steel: Ensure metal is clean bright metal, free from oil, rust or any other contamination which may interfere with bond. For best results a light shot blast texture is beneficial. Metal must be suitably supported and fixed to provide a stable substrate sufficiently free from deflection for the intended use. For large areas, consult with our technical department for further advice.
Larsen Primer Grip 360 MIXING
Larsen Primer Grip 360 is supplied ready to use and only requires stirring before use to ensure aggregate is evenly distributed.
Do not add water. Once mixed, use straight from tub or pour into a roller tray.
Larsen Primer Grip 360 APPLICATION
Standard paint application techniques are used. Apply in one coat only. Apply using a short pile roller or brush to give an even coating.
Larsen Primer Grip 360 is tinted green to give clear indication of coated areas and to help avoid missing any areas.
Do not allow to pond and do not apply in thick layers.
Protect adjacent surfaces from splashes and remove any Larsen Primer Grip 360 before drying with warm soapy water.
Allow to dry thoroughly before applying tile adhesive or leveller. Typically dries in 15-30min on absorbent surfaces. Drying times will be extended in low temperatures and high humidity and on non-porous surfaces. Avoid trafficking primed areas until covered.
Reseal tub after use to prevent skinning.
Larsen Primer Grip 360 RESTRICTIONS
Do not apply in thick layers. Temperature – Minimum 5°C during application and for a period of 24 hours subsequently. Substrates must be suitable for application, priming will not make poor substrates good. It is not recommended for use on substrates which are not sufficiently strong or suitable to receive the finish, for example painted walls are not suitable to receive tiling. Not suitable for application over soft bituminous materials, oils, grease etc. If in doubt, contact our Technical Department.
