DIRECTIONS FOR USE
PREPARATION
Allow adhesive to set sufficiently before applying grout. Ensure joints are clean, and free from dust or any other contamination. Any adhesive filling more than 1/3 the joint depth, should be raked out. In very warm conditions or with very porous tiles it is recommended to dampen the joints before grouting. Larsen Colourfast 360 Flexible Tile Grout is suitable for use in joints of 1-15mm.
New heating systems must have been trialled at a high temperature for a period of at least 48 hours in advance of tiling. Ensure the heating is turned off at least 48 hours before any tiling work is carried out and not turned on until at least 7days after the work has been completed. Heating should be turned on at the lowest setting and the temperature increased by no more than 5°C per 24 hours. Particular attention should be given to ensure there is adequate provision for movement joints in the tiling.
Timber substrates must be sufficiently rigid and supported to be free from excessive deflection under expected loads. Ensure adequate ventilation exists beneath the floor. Ensure all new wood (including joists) is ‘dry’ and conditioned. The floor should be designed to accommodate both seasonal changes in moisture and the changes caused by step changes in heating. Extra joists/noggins should be added to strengthen the floor as required. In wet areas timber substrates must be suitably tanked.
MIXING AND GROUTING
Mix powder with clean water (approx. 0.25L/kg) to a thick creamy paste using a slow speed drill and paddle. Allow the mixed grout to stand for 2-3 minutes then remix briefly to ensure an even consistency. The mixed grout is usable for 30-40min. Do not add water or attempt to remix after the grout has begun to set.
Work the grout into the joints using a grouting trowel, squeegee or sponge to ensure a well filled and compacted joint. Remove the excess grout from the tile surface as grouting proceeds. After initial stiffening of the grout (typically around 30min) clean the tile surface using a clean dampened sponge working diagonally across the grout lines. When the grout is suitably set, polish the surface with a clean dry cloth.
Floors will be ready for light foot traffic after approx. 3 hours and full traffic after 24 hours.
Larsen Colourfast 360 Flexible Tile Grout RESTRICTIONS
All tiling should be carried to current best practice, including British Standards and TTA Guidance documents. Substrates must be stable and free from excessive movement or deflection. It is advisable to carry out a trial area when grouting tiles which may be particularly prone to scratching or discoloration or when grout colour is critical. Slight batch to batch colour variation may occur. It is recommended to always use grout from the same batch or premix grout from different batches before use. Setting and drying times are affected by site temperatures and conditions and the product should not be used below 5°C. Grout residue remaining on the surface of the tile after hardening may need to be removed with an acid based cleaner. This should be carried out with care after 24 hours and the joints pre-wetted. Swimming pools can onlv be grouted if the chemical nature of pool water permits the use of cementitious grouts (consult TTA guidelines for further advice). Swimming pools should not be filled for 3 weeks after grouting.
